How can i build more self esteem and be independant from my spouse?

I've realized lately that I may be too dependant on my husband for my happiness. I'm a mom of 2 kids and my whole life revolves around them. I don't have many friends, I'm not the going to the clubs dancing type (wish I was) but I like long conversations and a good time. I want to do something independant from my husband. I used to want to do this to attract him more but now after my heartbreak, I want to do this for ME, i want to be healthy emotionally for the sake of my children and want to be happy. I do have a full time job but that's not filling in the void. Thanks for your suggestions. How can i build more self esteem and be independant from my spouse?
Your right, you probably are depending on him too much for your happiness. Happiness comes from within, not from external sources.

First thing is you have to learn to be happy with who you are. For that you need to understand exactly who you are. Women tend to base who they are off of everyone around them, too often they discard the person inside to become who they think everyone wants them to be. This can often cause the woman to compromise who they actually are and will in fact lead to unhappiness. Quit putting up a false front, be yourself, all that bending to make everyone else happy can and will eventually cause you to snap. One thing you need to realize is most people who are hanging around you are there because of the person you were before you met them, not who you became afterwards and often they end up wondering what's wrong with you and what caused you to change. You will need to realize that your not always going to make everyone happy all the time, fights are going to happen, it's human nature. You can't and won't always agree with everything everyone does and will just have to accept them for who they are and they will have to extend the same curtesy to you.

Once you've discovered who you are, then you will need to learn to accept that and be happy with that. You are going to have to learn that you are not perfect, you never will be, no one expects you to be. Learn to forgive yourself for those flaws that you find and accept that they are your flaws. While you might try to overcome those flaws, you will need to understand that it's alright if you fail to overcome them. Don't beat yourself up over it, don't dwell on them it's unhealthy and not going to do yourself any good. As far as how you look, even women that to you look absolutely drop dead gorgeous and perfect will think that they have flaws in thier beauty and when they look in the mirror can only see those flaws. You will need to understand that most people when they look at you probably don't see those things that you do when you look in the mirror. While this is a superficial world that we seem to be living in these days, your going to find that most people probably do find you attractive.

Now as far as doing things to be more independant, your right you cannot do it for him the fact that your trying to be just so perfect for him and have built your world around him, is probably pushing him away. You have to go out and do things because you want to, you have to do it for yourself not anyone else. You say the job is not filling your void, jobs usually don't unless you really like the job and the people that you are working with and since that rarely happens well you are going to have to find something else. You said you like dancing and wish you were out at the dance clubs, well go take some dance classes. And go out dancing (granted don't get so involved in it that it takes away from the rest of your life) have a little fun. If your wanting to just have some long conversations and joke around with people some, try doing some work at your church volunteer to help organize the events. If your not involved in the church i am sure there are other things in your community you can do. Make some friends go hang out with them and have fun. It seems to me that a lot of women when they get married dump thier social lives and become so wrapped up in thier families that they forget that they can have friends and go have fun outside of that family. Key is though, don't forget that you do have family to tend to, don't shirk your responsibilities.

Your welcome, I have been dealing with my wife on her own self esteem issues. It really has opened up my eyes on a lot of things. Just glad i could help out someone else out with the insights that i have had in the process of helping her out.How can i build more self esteem and be independant from my spouse?
hey, you can contact me anytime you need to talk,ok
Hey! I am a mom of 2 year old and have even worse situation than you ,I think. I look after my child and another stepkid (teenager) while my partner goes out with his friends(about twice a month) while he does not want me to go out at all. I do not work at the moment, so he has all the money and everything and I don't get nothing. And when I say I will work, he says I won't earn enough so we could benefit, cos the little one needs to go to the nursery and I also need to be home for the bigger one. He almost never compliments me and blames me if I go out even to the park every day(for my adventures he says). So, I look for more assurance from him, but he says I seek attention. Thats only normal if I stay all dsay at home and do not have anyone to talk to. The only time I hear a compliment is when I actually see other people. I suggest that you start a part time course for a better career and do exercises (at home if you can not access anything else). Gain self confidence and once the kids are big enough, start your own career and you will meet new people. Do not have more kids, though, otherwise you might be too far from your target and gradually will give up. When your husband will see that you have your own life he will become more jelous than you can imagine, but then you won't even need his opinion either. I wish you all the best sweetheart, cos I know how you feel. I am young and attractive, but one somebody uses you as a door mat it does not even matter. Focus, think about new plans for the future and love yourself.
You can kill both of these birds with ONE stone.

Pursue some sort of higher education. Start slowly, if it makes you more comfortable.

  • Can a wife sue her spouse for emotional torture?

Can emotional torture be a strong ground for annulment in the Philippines? Can a wife sue her spouse for emotional torture?
From what I skimmed over...I would say no...emotional torture is not grounds for annulment in the Philippines

    http://www.gtalawphil.com/Philippine%20A鈥?/a>

http://www.gtalawphil.com/sitemap.htmlCan a wife sue her spouse for emotional torture?
If the wife were an Islamo Fascist terrorist, then, no; because torture may be necessary to get information to prevent a terrorist attack.

However, if you mean, ';emotional distress'; instead of ';torture';, then, yes, I believe that may be grounds for dissolution of the marriage. It may be difficult to prove, however. Conservative cultures which frown on divorce such as the Philippines, do not easily accept other than

severe ';abusive'; forms of emotional distress.

For example if the husband asks his wife to clean the house everyday and cook dinner every night, that may not be grounds for annulment in the Philippines. In the U.S., maybe, but not the Philippines.

    .

    .
I'm going to say this one more time, in the United States, anybody can sue anybody for anything PERIOD. So, when asked ';Can I sue -----------'; the answer is always YES.

It doesn't mean you are going to win.

It doesn't mean that if you do win you will collect a dime.

It means you can file a lawsuit against anybody for anything in the United States. Your case may get thrown out but the answer is always YES.

How do you find a way to still be intimate with your spouse with infants and/or toddlers?

My husband and I have our own ';naughty corner'; in our kitchen away from prying eyes. We sneak a few special moments there whenever we can or if I am being witchy or stressed he tells me to go in the corner for some lip locking. We just started making ';appointments'; after the kids are alseep because we were not getting enough alone time together. We can talk about the ';appointments'; in front o the kids and it has become our private joke. We take advantage of whenever they are asleep and it's usually in not in our bedroom since we co-sleep. So, location change makes things interesting. How do you find a way to still be intimate with your spouse with infants and/or toddlers?
My son is 5 weeks old and so far, we've just waited until he's asleep. I know that won't last for much longer when he's constantly awake, but so far it's worked. How do you find a way to still be intimate with your spouse with infants and/or toddlers?
They gotta sleep sometime or GRANDMA
You have to make time for you and your spouse just as much of a priority as taking care of the kids. And make the most of those random moments when the kids are occupied. So if the toddler is napping, and the baby is sleeping, have a quickie!
we will sneak in a few things here or there, if they are in one room will will kiss and make out for a few min.

if the baby is napping and my 4 y/o is on noggin.com or playing good, then we can sneak in a quicky.

we usually save the good stuff for after they go to bed though, but with a 9 month old and 4 year old around most nights i'm to tired! but once i get into it it is well worth it.

just try giving each other hugs and kisses through out the day will help
My twins are eight and I still have a hard time finding the time and a way without someone barging in because they had a bad dream, or they have to pee and managed to lock themselves out of the bathroom, or the tree in the back yard is making scary noises.

When they were infants and toddlers was the easiest......get creative........it doesn't have to be night time to be intimate.
Take advantage when they are asleep! Put the dishes off till tomorrow and the laundry to get that moment with your spouse!

How Do you treat your spouse worse than strangers?

Think about this. Do you treat strangers better than you do your spouse at times? ListHow Do you treat your spouse worse than strangers?
Yes. You can treat your spouse worse than strangers you don't know, actually, worse than your worse enemy.

I don't need to think about this to answer your question. Is pretty simple and can happen for many reasons, they all come to a botle neck that is called emotional/verbal or phisical abuse.

What you need to treat a spouse worse than you treat a stranger is first: an abuser, and also you need a victim. Combine these 2 and you will get the abuse happen, and you will see how one treats his/her spouse worse than stranger.

If the abuse keeps happening then that's the perfect relationship, because they have found each other, and none of the two is going to leave.

If what we named as the victim is not a victim, it doesn't matter what is going to happen, but the no-victim is going to leave and wont ever stay in that relationship.

The abuser once the victim leaves, will open her eyes a little bit and will promise changes. The victim will end up going back for a second or third round.

Then later if the victim has been proven to not to be a victim, wont ever be there again, not only that, will be able to spot abusers at the distance and next time is in a relationship, it will barely take a little sign of controlling / abuse, to have this person leave.

If the victim for other reason is left single and finds someone else, most likely will fall in love with another abuser (or haven't you heard: ';I don't know why my friend keeps finding that kind of boyfriends';?).

If you are being treated worse than strangers by your spouse, you are being abused. Ask yourself, are you or not a victim?, will you keep or not with that?. Stay or leave.

I don't treat my spouse worse than strangers; but I have said the same thing to my girls.....would you treat a stranger like that, then don't treat your sister and I like that; we are the ones who love you no matter what....
my husband treats me worst than he treats strangers and I don't understand why
LOL sorry hon. Some spouses don't deserve the great spouse

there will be a day that comes they will regret.
My spouse treated me worse than he treated

    strangers.

He was physically abusive and otherwise so

but he did not do that to other people because

he would not have gotten away with it with them.

Would you ever forgive your spouse for cheating on you?

Regardless of the reason; stress, attention, mid life crisis, drunk, raped (oh, yes, they even have come up with rape as an excuse)Would you ever forgive your spouse for cheating on you?
My babies dad cheated me! I COULDN'T forgive him. The reason being is he didnt just cheat me, he cheated his son. He would go out with the other b!+cH and then come and hold my son and kiss him and expect me to take care of him. I did forgive him 2 years later but I didn't get back with him. Until this day he asks for forgivness and wants to try again but I can forgive but I cant forget. He also got this other girl prego. (If i went into details about his cheating, you'd probably forgive but not forget) I didn't want my son to grow upo in that kind of enviornment, he could cheat himself and on the other girl, but he CANNOT and WILL NOT cheat us. He did it once he will continue again and again. (regardless the excuse!!!)

    Hope I helped.

Good Luck %26amp; keep you head up high!!Would you ever forgive your spouse for cheating on you?
Woah, Mahmood, y'all get naked to hang people?

    Kinky!

You might forgive but will never forget and when they do it once they will do it again. Every time he/she is late home you will think they are cheating again? The choice is yours but when my marriage ended a long time ago I would have taken him back but that was not to be but thinking back it would have been a mistake.
I would forgive them but I would not stay with them. You never forget what they did and it drives you crazy every time they are late or the phone rings and someone hangs up or they go out with there friends. I could never go through that my whole life wondering if it would happen again.
No matter how much I tried I don't think I truly ever forgave. But I also know I wouldn't leave him either even though I always said I would. Too much is invested in a marriage and family to throw it away for a mistake. If he got caught again I would walk because I couldn't live with the pain I would feel. Too many women are very quick to say they would leave but most rarely do. It's a lot easier said than done and people should not be so quick to judge others. Each situation is unique.
Exactly what jess said. Of course I could forgive him. Eventually, over time. I'm not sure how much time it would take. Probably years.

But there is no way I could stay married to him. The emotional trauma of trying to make it work with a guy like that would probably give me heart problems. Plus, then you have to worry about STD's. That's too concrete a thing to ignore.
Before I got married, my answer was always no. But now that I'm married I really don't know what I would do. I guess it would depend on the situation...I don't believe that you can make someone cheat, but I do believe that marriage is alot of work and anything can happen during one. I pray that I never am truly faced with this type of issue.
No. Why did they put themselves in the situation for something like that to happen anyway. Rape of a man, unheard of. Rape of a woman, is a different subject altogether.
I LIKE THE ANSWER ABOUT IRAN ! THAT WAS FUNNY ! IT'S DOES'NT MATTER Y THE GUY CHEETS . THE THOUGHT WILL ALWAYS BE THERE THAT HE DID IT . BUT HONESTLY MOST GUYS CHEET . I'VE BEEN MARRIED 3 TIMES AN I'VE DATED ALOT AN EVERY ONE OF THEM CHEETED ON ME .
If rape wasn't an excuse but the truth -- yes I would

Anything else -- no I wouldn't. I don't have the forgiving capabilities and we both would be miserable. I would end it.
People are not perfect. We make mistakes every day. Some of them we regret for the rest of our lives.

You just have to be smart enough not to over react yet still filter out the BS.
if i was given the truth

    ';yes i acted in the heat of the moment';

mayyyybbbeee but they wouldn't get off easy.
Here in Iran, anyone convicted of cheating, we hang them while naked.
    It depends.
    Never in a million years.
no i would not forgive him

What is it about your spouse/SO that makes you love them so?

Mine...Well, he makes me laugh, smile and think about my future with him. The children we share on a daily basis are also happy and well adjusted to laugh because we get along so well.

I love him because he's COOL.

Sandy :O)What is it about your spouse/SO that makes you love them so?
he helped raise my daughter and now is a wonderful grampa ( pops to the boys , lol)

he has learned sign language to communicate with me and he is strong and gentle .

    i really am blessed .

you sound like you are very happy too . i'm glad for you * smile *

take care .d.What is it about your spouse/SO that makes you love them so?
Him being himself and all that makes him who he is. He has a great sense of humor, is intelligent, honest, a hard worker, caring, understanding, supportive, creative, and the list goes on. The negative qualities that he possesses while I don't actually love them I do accept them and understand why they are a part of him. I would not change anything about him for it would change the person that he is overall. I am completely in love with him and that loves grows with each passing day even after 3 years and 8 1/2 months.
everything. there is no way to list the reasons i love him. i love him with my soul. if he were gone i think i would stop breathing.it is also the way he loves me the same. sometimes we think about there will be a day when one of us will die before the other and we both cry. we have decided that the first one to die will be cremated and the ashes will be buried with the last one to go so we can remain together for eternity.

i am happy for you and your husband. it is nice to know there are still couples out there like us who love each other and live a peaceful happy life.
No matter what... he's always been there for me and the kids. He can make me laugh at the little things, and at my own quirkiness. He works too damn hard for what he does. He'll give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it. Damn good man he is!
She is open and honest, makes me laugh. Our children are healthy and happy
