If something happens to a spouse or loved one during war how long does it take for family to be notified?

From the time the Department of Defense receives the news the (NOK) next of kin will be notified within two days..or as soon as possible.





If they cant find you then it will take longer..





Only when injured will they call you..If killed in action they will never call you..You will get a visit from some military members.If something happens to a spouse or loved one during war how long does it take for family to be notified?
Thing move pretty quickly , when the Red cross sends notice of a family emergency. I had a soldier whos mother passed away while we where in iraq , we got him state side in less then 48 hours .





When i was still a private ( 1983 wow that long ago ) Stationed in Germany my father passed away. i was notified about 3am and was on a plane home by noon .

depends...if the service member is wounded then most times he/she can call the family and let them know...just depends on the severity of their injuries...if a service member is killed the department of the army has to notify the causality officer and the chaplain either at the service members duty station or nearest to where the family is located..then depending on what time they get notified they will head over to the service members family..the army will not send someone to a families house between the times of 10pm to 6am...so there is that waiting time also...usually they try to notify the family within 24hrs of a death of a service member....
With in a few Hours...Wounded and Medivaced...





Not sure on KIA's anymore...


It is in a Timely fashion...





I do know in Canada it is a Disgrace...


A Soldier was KIA and the Wife didn't find


out until the PO delivered his Personal Effects...
ASAP however make sure they have up to date contact information so they can get a hold of you. Sometimes spouses go back home and they don't update the addresses/phone numbers.
It is done as soon as possible.
